Since 2020, Dr. Nguyen, in collaboration with the Institute for Allergic Inflammation and the Texas Allergy Group Clinical Research Unit, has been conducting clinical investigations into systemic inflammation resulting from allergies, including mast cell diseases and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). This research explores inflammation sites, overall inflammatory burden, and key biomarkers, with special attention to the risk of tolerance breaking and the emergence of nascent autoimmunity.
Upon your clinic visit, a variety of strategies to manage mast cell activation and reduce systemic symptoms are also addressed, including those affecting the lungs, gastrointestinal tract, bladder, skin, and joints, as well as autonomic instability (“dysautonomia”) that may present with anxiety, ADHD-like symptoms, panic attacks, palpitations, tachycardia, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), flushing, dizziness, and fatigue.
